Camping, Hiking and Backpacking...what a great way to enjoy the outdoors!

Hiking and Backpacking is a great way to burn calories, while enjoying the great outdoors. Try a scenic footpath in one of your neighborhood parks, or track through one of the state or national park trails. Scenic trails are all across America and provide a fun way to exercise. Grab the family, pack a picnic and go!

Hiking is great for the physical and emotional wellbeing. It has a meditative effect and has been known to reduce depression. National studies have shown that walking in a mall can be depressing, but the effects of a walk in the woods releases stress and is known to reduce the effects of depression. The American Hiking Society lists so many other benefits. They state it can increase the good cholesterol, slow aging and prevent the aging of the immune system, and even improves bone density.
Are you a diabetic? They even say that it can control diabetes by protecting the body from degeneration.

So, try Hiking and Backpacking and go enjoy the sights, sounds and smell of great outdoors while improving physical and emotional wellbeing. Don’t forget it is a great weight loss exercise too! Get out there and smell the flowers, look at rock formations, listen to the running creeks and streams. If you really want to be adventurous and stay out of the house, try camping out for a weekend. Just enjoy nature. It’s time to buy a pair of hiking shoes and get outdoors!
